USF owns UCF
I hope Saturday’s contest put the notion of UCF being on par with USF to rest. USF is years ahead of UCF and I wish people would realize that. We had a freshman quarterback out shine UCF’s senior quarterback. We have three starters suspended for 6 games, and we still found a way to win a game in a hostile environment. I have met UCF fans and they are down right jealous of what USF has accomplished in such a short amount of time. USF is 3 – 0 for the first time since 1998. I see a big four in the near future but definitely not big 5. It is a fact, that on average a team cannot recruit enough talent in a non-BCS conference. For that fact alone, UCF will always be on the outside looking in. I am so thankful that I am not a UCF alumnus! It was an incredible experience to watch 47,000 jealous fans go home in defeat!!

Forgive me Mark, but this reads like all the other USF nonsense on sites like Rivals.
I'm not sure if you were at the game or not, but it was plainly obvious that USF and UCF both suck kind of hard. I can only assume you grew up in Florida as well, and have followed traditional powerhouses your whole life too. We're just not in the same league. Ya'll without your 3 drug addicted starters, and us without our offense (aka, Kevin Smith.. suspended the night before for violating curfew.. gotta love discipline)
It was a great, evenly matched game that went down to the final quarter of play. UCF made some costly mistakes, and USF's Grothe is absolutely incredible. He's the sole difference between the two programs. Some kids just know how to win.
Regarding BCS status, I'm just not buying it, but congratulations anyway? I donno, USF fans seem to have a pretty big hard on and little else to show for it. I never heard Temple brag about being in the BCS. USF's recruiting troubles (down 9 so far from this past summer due to academic ineligibility? seriously? get a new coach.) will keep them from winning the conference championship anytime soon. By the time the program is ready to compete over there (which we can both agree will happen), the BCS card won't matter much. There will be some pretty big changes in the landscape over the next 5-10 years (hell, 10 years ago the bcs didn't exist). Even now, expect non-BCS TCU to steal a BCS auto-bid with all the recent changes.
And being an alumnus isn't about our football program. With things like the medical research facility being built, and estimates of it bringing in 4.6 billion annually into the local economy, the future for UCF/Orlando is pretty bright.
Great time on Saturday, regardless of the low quality product. Can't wait until next year at RayJay.

A few comments from a fan that was at the game. A fan of what team I will not disclose. There are a few differences between the two schools academic and athletic wise. First, USF seems to me to have had a bigger presence at the game with a large amount of fans as to UCF being at home and looking as if they were the visiting team. Second, USF with a redshirt freshman could have had more than 300 yards passing if it wasn’t for some costly drops by the WR’s. Finally, the game was close but it just felt like USF was going to win through out the whole game.
UCF has everything to gain from playing USF but USF on the other hand has everything to lose by playing UCF. Why you say? If USF wins 10 more games against UCF what do they get? Nothing! If UCF wins one game against USF what do they get. Everything because they will be able to say hey we are the better team and everybody now must say we are the next big thing. So why should USF play UCF? There is no reason.
I don’t understand why there were articles in the Orlando Sentinel about USF’s three suspended players because UCF’s RB was suspended and in today’s paper their CB was arrested at a local Denny’s and called Orlando racist. Yes USF players smoke weed and if you think for one second that UCF players don’t smoke weed then you must have smoked to much in your time at college.. The only difference that I see is that USF uses drug test.
As for academics I see no real big difference because USF and UCF are both commuter schools. But, USF is rated higher in academics if you look it up.
Final thoughts. Thank god UCF is getting a new stadium because when you see homeless people laying next to the fans that are tailgating is just plain out nasty. Also they (meaning UCF fans) must be use to it because they wouldn’t even give them a burger. Whats up with that! I will finally finish with this UCF is like the red headed step child. Just no love for them. Well I will give you love UCF.
Keep working hard and one day you can be in a BCS conference yourself. Just remember to take your vitamins and say your prayers.
